LITTLE HEROES

this is a picture of a little girl playing with a phone.

When Erika Miller collapsed in her home Tuesday, her toddler Alana picked the phone and dialed 911.
And she knew just enough words to get her mom some help. The tape of Alana's 911 call reveals the resourceful little girl's plea for help:

Operator: 911, where is your emergency?
Alana: Momma owie.
Operator: Momma owie?
Alana: Momma owie.
Operator: Is momma there?
Alana: Momma owie.
The operator quickly traced the call to the Millers' home.

"I was shocked that my 2-year-old had the ability and the knowledge to call 911 and get the help here," Miller said.
Miller and Alana were playing in their home when suddenly Miller was hit with a painful migraine — it was so powerful that it made her pass out.
That's when Alana picked up the phone and did what most 2-year-olds wouldn't be able to do — she dialed 911.
"I have actually shown her, a few months ago, 'This is what you do if there's a big owie,' and showed her what buttons to push," Miller said. "I am so proud of her."

I think it is amazing how little kids are smart enough to save their parents life especially at age 2. I think that kids really do learn even if it doesn't seem like they are paying attention i think it shows that they remember what you told them and use it when it is needed.

POEM:
A CHILD'S HEART
A child's heart is full of love
Bearing all the burden

Holding on to every promise
Even the uncertain..

A child's tears happy or sad
Are real from within

The cry's come from their souls
Brought on by confusion..

A child thinks of only good
No matter what has happened

They love their mom and dad
But their souls will never mend..

Hold a child oh so close
Don't ever let them go

A gift from the all mighty
Like the first fallen snow..

Unconditional love
Is all that they say and more

To take advantage of that
Is to tear at God's core..

A child's heart is full of love
Not to bear the burden

But to love life to the fullest
Ever so certain..

This poem is about children and that they really do have big hearts in the sense that they care about the people around them. I think that this poem relates to my topic because it shows that in an important situatuion kids usually know what to do and that they care enough to realize something is not right.

QUOTES:
“While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about."

I think this quote is talking about how children can teach you things that sometimes you would never know about or think about. I think this also shows that kids are smarter than people usually think.

I chose little kids as my favorite heroes because i think it is really amazing how they can think about saving someone and how they know when something is wrong. I think little kids are underrated

Thirteen Reasons Why

Thirteen Reasons Why is a book about a young high school aged girl who ended up taking her life.  She then came up with 13 reasons why she committed suicide.  The boy who is telling the story is telling his perspective of the situation.  He goes through the days wondering why he was on the list and what he did to contribute to her death.  She sent a box of tapes to everyone who was involved in her suicide and she explain wit great detail why they got the tapes and how they made her make this decision.  This boy had absolutely no idea why he was on this list, so he was really interested as to why everyone else was on it.  After listening to everyone else's reasons he still couldn't this of any other reasons for him to be on the list.  I think this book is good because you really have to pay attention to what the book is saying because it switches back and forth from the boy talking or thinking from the girl in the tapes.  This book is very hard to put down and the farther you read the harder it is to stop.

Just listen

Just listen is a book about a young girl and her family's life journey.  She deals with the life struggles of any family and learns to deal with them by listening to music.  She also realizes that she has to fend for herself sometimes and she learns to deal with life and their difficult situations.  She meets this guy who is obsessed with music and has a radio station.  She start talking to him when all of her friends turn their backs against her.  She decides to give him music and she turns out liking it when she actually listens to it.  This girl used to be a model but decides to quit that because she learns more about herself and decides modeling isn't going to be a part of her life anymore.  She also learns how to take care of herself and not get dragged into the mess her parents and sisters are going through.  I think this book really shows that music or finding something that interest you the most can help someone take their mind off of the things in life that are the most stressful and learn how to deal with them in a calm matter.

Lucky

Recently I have read a book called Lucky.  Lucky is a memoir of a college student who gets raped by an older man.  When she went back to her dorm she told her door officer and got rushed to the hospital.  She fights for her life for all the other people that man has probably raped.  She gets evidence from the "Rape Kit" and takes it to court.  While in court she doesn't stop fighting for against what the man did to her.  When she wrote the book it was wrote for all people who have been through the same thing that she went through and to show people who hasn't been through that to realize that it is very sad.  Sometimes it takes years for people to tell other people that they have been raped or sexually harassed.  I think the reason why the book is called lucky is because she states in the book that the doctors told her that she was lucky to be a live and lucky to have collected that much evidence.  But she didn't agree at the time because she didn't feel lucky at all after what just happend to her, she said she felt like she lost everything and that something was missing from her from then on.  This book is very inspirational and makes you really grateful and makes you realize that things like that are real.

Twilight

The second book I have recently read is called Twilight by Stephanie Meyer.  It is about a girl named bella swan who goes to live with her dad in Forks, Washington.  She starts Highschool and meets a boy named Edward Cullen and his family Rosaline, Emmet, Alice, Jasper, Esme, and Carlisle, who are all vampires.  Bella falls in love with Edward which leads her to much danger.  More than half way through the book, the Cullens and Bella are playing baseball and a group of nomads go to see what is going on.  The leader of the covent is a tracker.  He loves challenges and the way Edward protected Bella made him want Bella's blood.  Bella has to go to Arizona to get away from him, but he tricks her to go to her old dance studio to save her mother.  Then her mother was never in danger to being with because her real mother was in flordia.  The leader of the nomad vampires bites Bella and the venom goes into her blood stream which would essentially turn her into a vampire but The whole Cullen family finds her and Edward sucks the venom out of her blood stream.  They take her to a hospital for her broken leg and cracked ribs and Edward stays by her side the whole time.  After she is recovered she goes over to the Cullens.  Alice gets her all dressed up because Edward has a suprise for her.  The suprise is something you will just have to wait and read about for yourself (I wouldn't want to give anything away).  This book is one of my favorite books I have read, and has a great moral to the story.
