OR blog #6

In the last part of the book that i am reading we see that the sweet caring Gregory that Ivy thought he was is now showing his evil mean side to him. One night when Ivy woke up screaming because of a terrible nightmare she was comforted by Gregory she thought he was doing her a favor by going down stairs to make her some tea to help calm her. Really he was putting drugs in her tea then he watched her drink the tea and brought her to the train station by their house. Tristan being her guardian angel gets her little brother Philip to follow them and try to save his sister. Finally when they reached the station they saw her on one side of the railroad tracks and a person dressed as Tristan on the other. Because she was so drugged up and confused she thought he was real so while there was a train on its way getting closer and closer to her she slowly started walking toward the other side of the train tracks. Until her brother philip with the help of Tristan they saved her. Now tristan is left to figure out why Gregory tried doing this.

Ivy still can not get over the fact that her boyfriend has died and she feels very guilty and that she should have died instead of him. Her and gregory are getting closer and instead of feeling hatred toward each other they actually enjoy hanging out. Ivy meets this boy named will. but she does not realize that Tristan has been able to enter Will's mind so she really is talking to Tristan but she does not notice it. When Ivy went to the fair and played the piano in the concert she noticed that for the first time since the death of her boyfriend she could finish through a whole song. Then after when she was walking with her brother he started talking about the picture that Will had given him earlier in the day of all of them. He noticed something different about it, he saw 2 faint glowing people. We know that it is Tristan and Lacy (2 angels).

In the section that I just read Ivy is still grieving the loss of her boyfriend and she is still having a hard time not thinking about him. She doesn't understand why everyone around her is talking about angels or drawing them. But what she doesn't realize is that Tristan is going into their mind to try to give her clues that if she believed in angels she would see him and then they would be able to communicate. He would also be able to tell her that she is in great danger and he is having a hard time warning her. The one day when the rest of Ivy's family goes on a trip just and hour away she is left home alone to do whatever she wants. She decided to practice for her piano performance. While she was in the middle of playing she heard a noise coming from downstairs and she looked down to notice that her cat Ella was gone. She went downstairs to confirm her belief that it was nothing. Until all of a sudden she finds herself kicking and screaming to get away because someone has put a bag over her head and she felt a circle shape on her head that felt to her like a gun. Then she wakes up to will scared to death of what he just witnessed and gregory coming at her to comfort her.

Tristan and Ivy were in a terrible car accident which lead to Tristans death. But now that Tristan in an angel on Earth he realizes a lot of different things because he is able to enter other peoples minds and figure out things. He can also go back in the future. As the days went on Tristan was thinking about the car accident but he saw it all in slow motion as if he was seeing it for himself. He finally realized that they did not just run into a deer but he wasn't able to break because someone had cut the break wire so that he wouldn't be able to slow down. He realized that someone was trying to kill them but now he has to try to get to Ivy to let her know she is in terrible danger and he wants her to see that the break wire was cut. But because Ivy no longer believes in the angel she blocks him out so he is unable to communicate with her. Lacy and Tristan (Lacy is another angel) need to find a new way to get Ivy to believe again.

In my book "kissed by an angel" finally we see that tristan has personally met ivy. At first he thinks she really is not into him but then we she asked him for swimming lessons, he realizes that he might have a good shot with her. Ivy has these angel that she prays to when she has a fear. For example she can't swim because of a drowning incident that happened when she was little and never went back in a pool or lake after that. Every time she fears about drowning she pray to her "water angel" to keep her safe. Tristan is the top swimmer in his school and so she trust him that he will keep her safe. Ivy's mom has now married Gregory's dad and now all of them live together in a huge house. Ivy's mom is having a hard time cheering up her son Philip. He is in elementary school and will not talk to anyone because he is so upset about moving, they even have to get rid of their cat ella. One day while they were eating dinner the police showed up and informed the family that Gregory's mother had committed suicide. The family gets very upset and especially Gregory takes it the hardest.

So far in my book there is boy named Tristan and he sees a girl named Ivy. He only met her once but really want to ask her out but thinks that she doesn't even see him, even though she really does. Ivy's mom is marrying one of her friend's dad's and Tristan is one of the servers. She realizes that he is there but does not think that he recognizes thats she is there but he really does. He does not think that she realizes he is there but she really does. Tristan is a major swimmer and is the best on the team. She just moved from a different place and is new to Stonehill High School. That is what has happened so far in my book Kissed By an Angel.

Book reflection

I am reading the book Kissed By an Angel. It is about a girl who's boyfriend dies and he becomes her guardian angel. One day she is in danger and he has to decide to either save her and never be able to be with her on earth or he can not save her and be with her. This book seemed very interesting to read because "afterlife" really interests me and books that are interesting are more fun to read.

blog 15: overcoming odds

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fw1CcxCUgg

I decided to do my article for overcoming odds on a youtube video on a boy who is autistic and was the "water boy" for his high school basketball team. He went to every practice and was very involved in the games. At one game the coach called over to him and told him that he could play. He was ready to go and ended up scoring a couple shots. His classmates all stood up and clapped for him. I think that this is really overcoming odds because the coach let him play and he ended up winning the game for the team.

blog 14: love

http://www.whitebuffalobeadsandstones.com/loveandforgiveness.html

This article is about how love and forgiveness can give you a good perspective on life and how you have to put your trust into whatever "god" or religion you have. It says that they always forgive and love you always no matter who you are. It also says that would be really hard for someone to do even though it sounds easy but you always have to forgive them and love them always. I think that this article really shows the true meaning of love and forgiveness. I think if you have both love and forgiveness then you will always be able to have a good perspective on life and a good attitude towards different things. I think that it is very hard to forgive someone you do not like and i think it hard to love everyone equally no matter what. I think that because we are all human it is impossible to be able to forgive some one right away or to love everyone for who they are and to like everyone you meet.

blog 13: war

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2006/07/the_war_comes_to_us.html

This article is about war in Iraq and what it is all about and how they think that the reason for war always comes to you and that sometimes you can not find any other way to get away from it and that you can not go find war. This article is also talking about how they are dealing with the conflicts and how it all came about. I think that war is not the way to solve things and i think that if it is not America's problem then we should not et involved. But i also think that it is important that we keep as many people as we can safe. I think that it is important to be honest and truthful when it comes to the reasons behind war and why we are actually fighting. I understand that somethings should not be said but i think that it is very important to keep the friends and families of the person who is fighting updated and let them know what is going on. I do not usually keep up with the war and what is going on in Iraq so I can not say very much but all i think is that i do not think that war is needed.

blog 12: colonization

http://africanhistory.about.com/od/eracolonialism/tp/AfricaNotColon.htm

This article is about 2 countries in Africa Liberia and Ethiopia are said to never have been colonized. Both of these countries were colonies but they are said to have never been fully colonized. These countries were run by americans and expanded and grew. At first these places were run by white Americans and said that there was no place for free blacks but then the free blacks took over their country. Africa became enlarged when Liberia and Ethiopia became apart of africa.

blog 11: global issue

http://www.globalissues.org/issue/2/causes-of-poverty

This article is talking about how poverty is a global issue and is happening everywhere, some places more than others. Poverty is a serious thing and can cause illness and death. "Over 3 billion people are living on less than $2.50 a day" To most of us here $2.50 is nothing but to some people that is a chance to survive for one more day. "1 billion children live in poverty (1 in 2 children in the world). 640 million live without adequate shelter, 400 million have no access to safe water, 270 million have no access to health services. 10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (or roughly 29,000 children per day)." Some children are dying because they do not have enough money for food for that day or they are sick because they do not have a warm, safe, or clean place to live. Most children who start in poverty usually never make it out of poverty. People who are living in poverty have a hard time getting jobs because people do not hire homeless people and then they do not get money for food and shelter.

blog 10: holidays

http://www.beliefnet.com/Faiths/Christianity/2001/02/Ash-Wednesday-Primer.asp

This article is about what lent really means and why people give things up over the lent season. lent is all about giving something up for 40 days and 40 nights or until easter day. People do this because Jesus gave up everything for 40 days and 40 nights before he died on the cross. For lent people always try to give something that they always use or a weakness in their life for example for a teenager usually it is facebook or sometimes junk food. Kids usually try to give up something simple like cookies or candy. I think it is good because it helps teach self discipline because if you follow through with your lent promise then you have a lot of self discipline. Lent was a time of suffering for Jesus and he did not get anything for a long time and i think it is fun to test yourself and see how long you last.

blog 9: bollywood

In class we had watch a movie call Bride and Prejudice. I personally thought it was a pretty good move. This movie about a family who lives in India who has 4 daughters and a mother and father. One of the daughters is named Lalita and she is a very independent woman and knows what she wants and does not need someone to care for her. One day she meets a young man from new york named Mr. Darcy. He insulted her and she never wanted to talk to him again and she was very offended from his comment. Then she meets this other man Johnny and Darcy gets pretty jealous and then tries his hardest to apologize and win her back. She falls for it and ends up marrying him too. There is a lot more to the story but it is a long movie. Bollywood films have a lot of singing and dancing and involves a lot of cultural dancing and outfits. Usually they are about 3 hours long. I think that these movies are fun to watch because you start to get a different view point about India and their culture.

blog 8: culture

http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2/bhcarticles.nsf/pages/Food_culture_and_religion?OpenDocument

This article is talking about how different cultures and religions have special meals that they cook on special occasions or certain things that can or cannot eat. It talks about the importance of food in the culture and different ways to thank your "god" for food. In some religions they bless the food before they eat it. Some cultures believe that if you kill an animal for food you have to use every part of the animal for something useful or else it would be a waste of the animal and the animal would have died for nothing. People believe that food is a gift from their god and they should not take advantage of that. I think that it is good that these religions think that their food is very important and that they don't take advantage of it because they don not know if they will have any the next day. I think that us as americans take food for granted because we know that we will have food on the table at least 3 times a day and we know that if we are hungry in between we can always go grab a snack were in some cultures they have a hard time getting just one thing to eat a day but they are always thankful for what they get.

blog 7: change

http://ezinearticles.com/?Facts-About-Accepting-Change&id=71763

The article is talking about how we need to accept change and how it helps us get over things easier. It talks about how we need to be able to go through life with different obstacles and know how to accomplish task in different surroundings. Accepting change can be very hard, for example when someone is used to having their daily routine and is finally used to their job, home, neighborhood, ect they find it hard to be able to adapt to other "new" things. Sometimes people have a very hard time when a natural disaster occurs and they have to get used to that hard life for a time period and they have to be able to accept that things are going to have to change. Another thing people have a hard time accepting is technology. Especially older people, they dont know how to text or even use a cellular phone. Technology is changing every day and people have to get used to the more complicated systems rather than the simple ones because simple things are not being made anymore. I think this article is good especially for people who need help in realizing that they need to accept change and that sometimes change can be very helpful later in life.

blog 6: hope

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn13369

Everyone has learned that at one point or another the sun will explode. When the sun explodes no one will be able to survive. But scientist have been researching and they have found out that there is still some hope. In 7.6 billion year they say that the sun will turn red and become 250 times its current size. I think that in 7.6 billion years scientist will have more research and be more technologically advanced that they will be able to know more about what is going on up in space. I think that there will be some way to help save people if it even happens.

blog 5: religion

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn13782-religion-a-figment-of-human-imagination.html

This article is about how people need to believe in something and that people always need to feel like they have certain rules to follow or else something bad will happen to them. Humans like to use their imagination. When you first think about imagination you think of a little kid playing dress up. But adults can use their imagination also. Adults use their imagination usually in religion. Religion causes them to use their imagination because they have to believe that if they sin or do something against their religion then they are going to never go to the "happy" place of their religion. For christians that is heaven. Heaven gives them eternal happiness and you are free with god. But if you sin or do something against the christian religion then they go to "hell". I think that people need to believe in something in order to feel o.k. with themselves. People like to base their choices off of their religious rules. People need religious rules as a guide.

blog 4: gender roles

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/21/us/21immig.html?_r=1

This article is about women that are being held in immigration detention centers. There are about 300 women that are held there. This detention center is in Arizona. People have been saying that they are treating these women with no respect and saying that the conditions are bad at this detention center. I think that people from all around the world should e treated with respect and that they should be given places that are appropriate for living and that do not cause health issues or anything like that. I think that women are being treated like slaves in these centers and that these women should be treated well.

blog 3: cultural differences

http://www.migrationheritage.nsw.gov.au/e107/content.php?article.136

For this article I chose to read about a man who lived in Australia when he was little and then moved to China. For him China and Australia were very different places. He had to change schools and lear totally different ways of living and get used to very different areas. I think it would be really hard to change from place to place and especially at a young age. I think that to move from one very different area to another would be difficult and i t have to learn new language and get used to different people and ways of living.

blog 2: overcoming struggle

http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/02/04/autism.resolution/index.html

This article is about a young girl who is autistic. Her family has had a very hard time dealing with the tantrums and screaming. She has 2 other siblings who have been having a hard time dealing with it too. CNN has helped by working with a specialist and helping them overcome these struggles. I think that it is very hard to deal with a situation like this. When the girl wants something she would either kick and scream until she got it or she would shoplift. I think that when a child with a disease like autism it is very hard to teach her what is right and what is wrong because she doesnt quite understand.

blog 1: natural disaster

http://www.globalissues.org/article/523/asian-earthquake-and-tsunami-disaster

In 2004 a horrible earthquake struck Indonesia. The earthquake measured a 9 on the scale. This earthquake was so powerful it caused tsunami to hit and killed 230,000 people in 10 different countries. This has been the worst natural disaster in history. I think that since there were 2 disasters that happened that made it 10 times worse. I thought it was bad when a couple people died from a natural disaster but when 230,000 people die from one disaster that is a lot. Many children and adults died from these natural disasters.

twin babies born in different years!

Twin boys were born on December 31st and Janurary 1st. They were born 20 minutes apart. These boys are very differ being able to say that one was born in 2008 and one in 2009. Usually twins are born on the same day and also the same year but these babies have different birthdays and years! They are really one of a kind to be able to say that they are twins but with differnt birthdays. I think that this article is really interesting because these twins almost seem like they aren't twins. I have a twin and I think it would be really fun to be a twin but have different birthdays.
